Descansos

Descansos: A cross placed at the site of a violent, unexpected death, in memoriam.

"Descansos" was originally titled "Avoid Not Those Who Weep". We went on a road trip from Cerrillos to Taos recording all the road shrines along the way. On the very last, partially obscured by snow, was carved "Avoid Not Those Who Weep" and served as the incentive and inspiration for the video that followed. These are gouache sketches.
